Moray Council cut cards to decide administration's future

TODAY will surely be remembered as one of the most bizarre days in the history of Moray Council.

Last week, Moray Conservatives announced a bid to seize control of the council administration from the SNP, after the departure of SNP councillor Paula Coy.

A vote took place today to decide whether the Tories would gain control, or if the SNP would retain it.

After ending 12-12, councillors Aaron McLean (Forres, SNP) and Tim Eagle (Buckie, Conservative) cut cards from a pack to decide who would gain control until May 2022's local elections.

Aaron McLean won the draw – picking out the jack of spades.
