YOUNGSTERS at a local kickboxing club have gone out of their way to thank front-line nurses at Elgin's Fiona Elcock Vaccination Centre for recent hard work.

Nurses at the centre are busier than ever at the moment as the vaccination rollout in Moray is ramped up due to an increase in Covid-19 cases locally.

Children from the Weir Black Belt Academy felt that the staff involved with the rollout could benefit from a few treats – and delivered them five trays of cakes.

Weir BBA's Linda Weir said: "The children were delighted to donate cakes to the staff and volunteers at the centre.

"The instructors have been fortunate enough to receive their vaccines in recent weeks and the students were thankful to be able to continue training due to the strict measure in place, both outdoors and indoors after our recent return for under 18s.

"The staff and volunteers have been doing a tremendous job, with really efficient measures in place.

"With the recent vaccine acceleration for 18-39 year olds seeing huge uptake in numbers and increased hours for the staff, we wanted to show our thanks and how appreciative we are to all involved in running such an effective vaccine centre.

"From all at Weir Black Belt Academy, we'd like to thank The Fiona Elcock Vaccination Centre and the NHS."

Students Haiden, Eva, Sinead, Indie and Josh dropped the cakes off with the staff this week.
