Elgin's West End Primary School celebrate World Book Day and the opening of their new library
WEST End Primary School had an extra special World Book Day celebration on Thursday (March 2) as the school's brand new library opened for the first time.
Featuring completely new and updated books, shelves and seating - the library was completed entirely with money raised by the school and through donations from MFR Cash for Kids and the Adam Family Foundation.
West End Primary began fundraising for a new and improved library more than five years ago after realising many of their books were dated or unusable.
They had almost completed the project prior to the Covid pandemic but were forced to postpone their plans.
Children's author John A. Farnell visited the school to open the library and also gave a talk on creating stories and making illustration.
To mark World Book Day West End pupils also dressed up as their favourite book characters and spent some time designing book covers and doing book related quizzes, before doing some creative writing.
