Fire fighters are still damping down following a wildfire which broke out near Focahbers yesterday.

The blaze broke out near the Ordiquish Earth Pillars viewpoint.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted shortly after 11.30am on Monday to reports of a fire in the open.

"Operations control mobilised appliances to the scene, where firefighters were met by a section of trees and shrubbery on fire.

"Crews carried out firefighting throughout the day before returning to the incident this morning, where they remain working to dampen down any remaining hotspots.

"They will leave the scene once the area is made safe."

Crews from Fochabers, Rothes, Keith, Inverness and Elgin attended the scene.
