Window pane smashed at Elgin Library as appeal for information launched

ELGIN Library has been hit by vandalism.

A window pane at the entrance to the library was smashed over the weekend (January 20-21). Police believe the incident occurred on Sunday, January 21.

An appeal for information has been launched and glaziers have been to check the damage. For now the area is taped up.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: “A window pane in the entrance portico was smashed over the weekend when Elgin Library was closed.

"Glaziers were due to attend yesterday to assess the damage, which has been reported to Police Scotland.

"We would urge anyone with information to contact them on 101.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We received a report of damage to a window at a premises on Cooper Park.

“The damage is believed to have occurred on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Enquiries are ongoing.”
