Woman (28) dies after crash on A96 between Fochabers and Keith

A 28-year-old woman has died after a crash involving three vehicles on the A96 between Fochabers and Keith.

The accident, involving a red Audi A3, a grey Peugeot 2008 and a white Ford Transit van, took place at around 8.35am this morning.

Just after 1pm, Police Scotland announced that the woman driving the Peugeot died as a result of the collision.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Transit and the driver of the Audi were taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

The road between Fochabers and Keith will remain closed as police investigate the crash.

Police are appealing for information surrounding the incident.

Sergeant Scott Deans, from the North East Road Policing Unit, said: "The road will remain closed in both directions while our investigations into this incident continue, with local diversions in place.

"I am appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or any drivers with potential dash-cam footage, to please come forward and assist our ongoing enquiries."
