SUNDAY'S trip to Parkhead on the Buckie Thistle team bus is set to be extra special for one much-loved member of staff at Victoria Park.

Long before the vast majority of the playing squad at Buckie Thistle were born, Sandra Paterson watched the last clash between Buckie and Celtic – back on July 30, 1989.

In fact, that day was her first helping out at the club – and the start of a 35-year affinity which continues to grow stronger with every passing season.

Sandra bakes cakes for every home match, helps out in the boardroom and travels to every away game on the team bus.

"The first game I came to was in 1989 when Celtic played here," she said. "I was asked to help out in the shoppie where they do the teas, coffees and pies.

"Then I was put over to the boardroom and I have been here since. I do it all voluntarily. I bake for every home game – I just enjoy the football.

"I went to football with my dad when I was little and I still go everywhere with the boys and enjoy it.

"I would say this is the biggest game yet. It's just a dream. It's going to be a lifetime experience for everyone involved and helps the club financially.

"The whole town is buzzing, the shops are decorated, all ages are speaking about it."

Sandra hopes her heroes can nab a goal at Parkhead and give the club's fans something to celebrate – and give themselves a moment to remember forever.

She added: "I have never been to Parkhead so when I see the stadium I'll be going 'wow'!

"It will be a great experience. It will hit me when I get to the ground. I'm travelling with the team as always. I'm just looking forward to it. It's been a great build up.

"A goal would be a dream, but we are just going there to enjoy it – that's the main thing."
