A VILLAGE of wooden houses and shops has popped up in Lossie Forest recently – and is growing in size day by day.

Mother-of-two Ericka Murchison, from Lossiemouth, founded Lossie Forest Wood Houses in May, with the idea being for everybody to make their own wooden house and place it in the miniature village in the forest.

Ericka and sons Zac (1) and Clark (4) are now hoping to share the fun and are inviting more families to visit.

Ericka said: "Lossie Forest wood houses took inspiration from outdoor play areas and fairy house gardens.

"With kids' soft play areas and play centres being closed and families looking to keep their children entertained there is something for everyone at the woods.

"As outdoor play is a big part of my children’s lives, we want to welcome more families to join in and make them aware of Lossie Forest wood houses.

"Everyone can get involved and add to the wood house village. Please take the weather into consideration when creating houses."

The village, which is located on the back road from Lossiemouth to Elgin near Arthur’s Bridge, has come along way since forming six weeks ago.

There is now a sweetie shop, a toy shop, a happiness hamper, a sensory pathway, wooden games and a gruffalo hunt.

Lossie Forest wood houses is currently running a number of competitions with support from several local companies.

Finding Lossie Forest wood houses: There is a little red bridge called Arthur’s bridge on the back road between Elgin and Lossiemouth. On the Elgin side of the bridge, there is a forestry commission sign. Go passed the houses and park at the car park with the red barrier. The wood house village is approximately 800 metres up the path on the left.
