Young musicians perform with top players

YOUNG musicians from across Moray were given a masterclass from some of the best players in the country.

Members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra visited Elgin to work with Moray Music Centre pupils on Saturday.

The masterclass session played out at Elgin Academy and was followed by a performance featuring the young pupils as well as the professional musicians.

The Moray Music Centre, part of the Moray Council's Instrumental Instruction Service, was set up to give school age pupils an opportunity to participate in an ensemble.

Meanwhile, more than 70 young instrumentalists from across the area are celebrating exam success.

Alexander Davidson, the acting head of instrumental instruction at Moray Council, congratulated all those who recently sat the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams.
