CHILDREN from a Moray dance school have just returned from a performance adventure at Disneyland Paris.
Zara Mortimer realised a long-held dream when she led a group of 37 young dancers to France.
They danced as part of a group of 500 young performers from the UK and put on a 20-minute show in a Disney theatre.
Said Zara: "It was definitely the opportunity of a lifetime. I am a extremely proud teacher and can’t wait for the next adventure."
Rehearsals started last October and stepped up after Christmas. Zara Mortimer School of Dance staged some fundraising events to cover the cost of travel to and from France. They stayed at Disneyland Paris.
They arrived at the park on Friday, March 3 and had two days to enjoy the on-site entertainment before performance day on the Sunday.
That saw an early 7.30am start for the children when they were met by the Perform in the Magic team.
"We were taken into the studios and went backstage to a rehearsal room where we practiced the pre-parade dance."
They performed their 20-minute show in the afternoon.
"I couldn’t have been prouder of the girls as I watched them on a screen from backstage. After the performance there was no time to spare as the older girls and myself had to prepare for the pre-parade.
"The pre-parade was made up of 500 young dancers and teachers from all over the UK. We had the pleasure to dance along the full parade route and down Main Street. We were greeted by our families and thousands of tourists. It was an amazing feeling. The buzz we all had after was electric!"
They finished the day with more rides and watched the illuminations and fireworks.
