Keith side Ugie re-joined the Moray welfare league this season after a few years of absence, and visited Lhanbryde United in their opening match on Friday.

Their opening goal came from a mighty kick by keeper Ryan Dyer, who later set up his team’s second strike with another long clearance from his own penalty area.

Lhanbryde has beaten Seaforth 9-0 in their first fixture but conceded for the first time this term when Dyer thumped the ball from his own area deep into home territory and the ball took a wicked bounce over the head of the back-pedalling United keeper into the net.

The home side levelled when debut day hat-trick hero Stephen Dey added his fourth of the season, firing home on the turn.

In the second half, United created some good chances but were stung when Dyer launched the ball upfield once again and released Mikey Simpson to glance the ball past the advancing keeper.

The referee then awarded United a penalty and John Harrold converted to make it 2-2.

Lhanbryde had Aeden McLaren sent off for a late tackle but almost won it with Craig Sim passing up two late opportunities.

Champions Fochabers were 5-0 winners at home to Rothes A.

Lee Alexander was ‘Rockets’ hero with a hat-trick, netting his first from a one-on-one chance before Jordan Clarke added number two.

Rothes were through on goal on two occasions but keeper Kieran Burchell denied them both times.

Alexander scored early in the second half from a crossbar rebound, then got his third before Stuart Strathdee slid in the fifth in the closing minutes.

RAF Lossiemouth ran riot on new boys Seaforth, scoring 11 goals without reply.

Ben Carby grabbed the first of a four-goal haul from the spot and Callum Devine made it 2-0 on 17 minutes. Craig Thomson’s bullet header found the net and Carby, who assisted the previous two goals, netted his own second from a Devine pass on 28 minutes.

An eventful first half for Carby saw him miss from his second spot kick, before thundering in a 30-yard effort for his hat-rick and a 5-0 interval advantage for the airmen.

Lossie’s third penalty of the game was netted by Dean Stevenson, who then cut the ball before for sub Tristan Fahey to make it seven.

A Connel Moffat free kick fell at Fahey’s feet and he put away his second, Stevenson got his second on 65 minutes and Carby’s fourth made it double figures before Seaforth conceded their fourth spot kick of the match and Fahey completed his hat-trick to round off the scoring.

In the Speyside derby, Aberlour Villa got off to a flyer against Craigellachie with Marcus Murray’s first minute strike.

Craig were quick to respond when Jordan Gray raced through to level, but good play by James Grant set up Korey Pring to restore the Villa advantage.

The home side moved 3-1 ahead through Liam Munro , but a crossed effort by Colin Coutts ended up in the back of the Villa net to reduce the deficit before half time.

Craigellachie continued their comeback, levelling through Brad Mills just after half time.

There was no more scoring until the 74th minute when Jack McConnachie spun to crash home a superb strike and put the visitors in front for the first time.

But five minutes from time, Aberlour defender Marc Winchester fired past keeper Archie Scott to make the final score 4-4.

In the Banffshire coastal derby, Calum Risk gave Cullen the lead at Portsoy who levelled through Jordan Johnston.

Further goals by Risk, Greg Hay and Taylor Smith wrapped up a 4-1 victory for Cullen.
