Evan Towler is captain of the Dons' under-18 squad and can play as a left back or in the centre of defence.

The 17-year-old completed a loan move to the Black and Whites over the new year period and made his debut as a substitute in Monday's 1-0 win over Forfar Athletic.

Towler came on at half time when Elgin captain Euan Spark aggravated a groin injury and impressed manager Gavin Price with an assured display to help his new team to victory.

"Young Evan slotted in fantastically well at left back and he should be really proud of his debut," said Price.

"It looks like it's going to be another good signing for us."

Price also has defender Aldin El-Zubaidi on trial this month with the player featuring on City's bench against Forfar.

The 26-year-old Iraqi started at Hamilton Accies and has also had spells at Cowdenbeath, Albion Rovers and Stirling Albion.

Elgin will also look to the loan market in January after their squad was reduced by players returning to their parent clubs.

Striker Jaime Wilson is back at Falkirk and Nathan Cooney has been recalled by Dundee United, while Ross County look set to bring back stopper Tom Grivosti from his loan period.

That leaves City with only Ross Draper, who could yet be recalled by Cove Rangers although Price said he is keen to hold on to the former Ross County and Caley Thistle man.

"That is out of our hands at the moment so we are going to need to bring in one or two if we lose all these players," said Price.

Elgin will look to extend their three-game unbeaten run when they travel to Edinburgh City on Friday night.
