Adele an international hit at six
TINY Moray martial arts fighter Adele Williamson is set for international recognition – at the age of six.
The kickboxer, a student at Sansum Black Belt Academy in Lossiemouth, has secured her place in the Scottish international team which will travel to Italy for the WMKF (World Martial Kombat Federation) Championships in November.
Adele, a pupil at Elgin’s Seafield Primary, qualified for the event after impressing at the LMBBA British Open Championships in Telford last May.
The youngster won her open belts category, as well as finishing second in the beginner intermediate girls competition.
The Lossie studio’s head instructor, Lisa Clarkson, said she was proud of Adele’s achievement and the fighting spirit she showed.
“She has the determination of a true black belt,” Lisa said. “Adele is a credit to the Academy and has the potential to be a world champion.”
The Lossiemouth Sansum team travelled to Telford with Lisa and her son Luke (16), who is also an instructor. Yasmin Anderson and Alexander Yeats both came home with two golds, while Alexander also won a silver medal. Becca Cameron secured two silvers and Blaine Watson returned with a second and third placing.
Victories from other Moray Sansum clubs included three golds for Bryan Cameron and one each for Amber Hunter, Michael Lewis, Jake Bernardi and Lesley Ann Duguid. Louise Cartmell, Kelcie Bremner and Ethan Kerr all came home with bronze medals.
Sansum Lossiemouth also won the team championships at a recent 3 series event held in Elgin’s Town Hall.
