ALL matches in the Scottish Professional Football League, Highland League and the Scottish Junior North Region have been cancelled amid coronavirus fears.

Matches under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA will be suspended until further notice starting from tonight, with Motherwell v Aberdeen and Queen of the South v Ayr United both off.

Elgin City's match against Brechin City against Borough Briggs tomorrow will be postponed, as will the Moray derby clash between Keith and Lossiemouth. Ladies Day at Borough Briggs will go ahead. All games involving Moray junior sides are also off.

The SPFL and the SFA announced the decision to postpone all games Scotland-wide this morning.

Elgin City posted on Twitter they "regret" that the game must be postponed.

Highland League secretary Rod Houston said the decision was made by the SFA – and added it was something they were prepared for.

He said: "We have discussed possibilities in recent weeks and had a meeting on Tuesday with the SFA where we agreed to take guidance from them.

"We are currently dealing with the immediate aftermath. It's a bit soon to say what might or might not happen.

"The first job was to get the message to clubs that there would be no football for the foreseeable future.

"Clubs understand because we have discussed it. We have known for two or three weeks this could happen and frankly there is no other option (other than to suspend the league).

"There are a lot of ramifications but we now have tomorrow to catch our breath and take stock."
