Elgin Cycling Club played host to the Scottish National 10-mile Time Trial Championships on Sunday.
The sun shone on the club’s Orton course as more than 70 cyclists including some of the fastest in the country over ten miles took to the Moray countryside.
And the course record was broken by Adam Wild from GS Metro, who won the senior ten-mile time trial.
His quick time was posted despite a slowing head wind heading back to the start.
There was home success too - and almost another record - with Elgin CC’s very-own chairperson Lorna Breetzke winning the female race, and great performances in all categories including veteran, youth and junior riders, from all over Scotland.
Home champ Breetzke said: “‘I know the course like the back of my hand and I’ve had many tough times on the return leg.
“I knew going into the race I would have to get very close to a course record to take gold. I was three seconds short but scraped the win by four seconds so I’m super chuffed.”
The event was organised by club vice chair Diane Maciver, allowing Breetzke to race and claim her glory. Commissaire Donald Peterkin and officials were on hand from Scottish Cycling.
All competitors were treated to post-race catering, baked and prepared by members who also looked after safety and signposting at the event, and served coffees and snacks in the Inchberry Hall.
Elgin Cycling Club organises social rides throughout the week in summer, as well as national and local races, with new members welcome to join - see Facebook for details.
