Buckie and Keith knocked out the cup

MORAY'S interest in the Aberdeenshire Shield has been ended for another season.

Both Buckie Thistle and Keith exited the competition after losing their ties on Wednesday night.

Buckie went down 3-0 to coast derby rivals Deveronvale, the second time they have lost to the Banff outfit in a matter of a few weeks.

Injury-hit Jags trailed at the break to a Ross Anderson own goal, and further efforts by Paul Sutherland and Dane Ballard saw the home side through to the semis.

There they will visit either Inverurie Locos or Banks o' Dee, the latter celebrating after a fine comeback win at Keith.

The Maroons scored twice in the first five minutes through Cammy Keith and Donnie Fraser to take control of the tie.

However the Aberdeen juniors, who have taken several Highland League scalps in recent years, fought back with a doible by ex-Cove striker Jamie watt.

Keith's challenge was made harder when defender Michael Ralton was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

Dee then grabbed the winner in the second minute of extra time, Jack Henderson scoring.

New Huntly boss Charlie Charlesworth's first game officially in charge turned out to be a disappointing one for the ex-Lossiemouth manager.

The Christie Park men led Formartine 2-1 at one point through goals by Mike Ewen and Michael Clark but eventually lost 6-2, and had Ross Still sent off.

Formartine noew play Cove Rangers in the quarter-finals for the right to host Turriff, who beat Fraserburgh 3-0 in the night's other match.
