Buckie Thistle moved to within three points of Highland League leaders Brechin City after a 2-0 win over Brora Rangers on Wednesday night.

With Brechin’s visit to Keith postponed due to the weather, Jags’ pitch was also waterlogged so they moved their fixture to Lossiemouth.

A first half Josh Peters goal and a late Jack Murray penalty made it two wins out of two this week for Buckie, who won 3-0 at Keith on Monday.

Graeme Stewart’s side have now played two of a six-match run in the space of 12 days, with a home match against Deveronvale up next on Saturday.

Jags also have back-to-back matches against bottom side Strathspey Thistle next week and finish with a home game against Keith.

They have a game in hand over Brechin to try and make up the three-point gap, and although they trail the leaders by nine goals in goal difference, next week’s two games against the league’s bottom club Strathspey could change all that.

Inverurie Locos continued their strong second half of the season with a 4-2 win at Clachnacuddin.

Sam Burnett and Logan Johnstone had Locos 2-0 up inside 20 minutes, with a Greg Mitchell own goal getting the Inverness men on the scoresheet before half time.

Callum Dingwall made it 3-1 and although Fergus Adams pulled another back for Clach, Jay Halliday’s strike sealed it for Inverurie.

Formartine United needed two late goals to nick a 3-1 win over far-travelled visitors Wick Academy.

Marc Lawrence netted after two minutes for the home side with Gary Pullen levelling for Wick on the half hour.

It stayed level until the closing seven minutes when Paul Campbell edged Formartine in front, with Kevin Hanratty following up with a third two minutes later to finally end Academy’s brave resistance.
