Murray (19) has agreed to a permanent switch to Jags following his release from County earlier this summer.

The stopper, who impressed in two loan spells at Buckie from County in the past two seasons, was attracting interest from SPFL clubs.

But Stewart revealed how Murray has committed to becoming a Jag and broke the news to his players last night.

"He’s agreed a two-year deal and I’m going to announce it to the rest of the squad," he said.

"He agreed last week but he haven’t got his signature yet, he has to sign it and scan it back to me.

"I'm absolutely over the moon. He was the one signing we wanted the most."

Stewart now has a growing crop of talented young players in his squad, including several with experience at bigger clubs.

Murray is his second summer capture after former Aberdeen and Inverurie Locos defender Sam Pugh, who has been on a full-time sports scholarship in Iowa, USA for the past four years.

"We’ve signed Jack and Sam Pugh, aged 19 and 21, both played professional football, one in America, one here," said Stewart.

"They're young guys and football is the most important thing to them. They'll both be great signings for Buckie.

"We also have (centre back) Sam Morrison who is only 21 but a fully grown man, and good young players like Marcus Goodall, Mark McLauchlan and Lee Herbert.

"The likes of Callum Murray, Sam Robertson and Scott Adams become veterans now and they’re about 22 or 23.

"It's shaping up to be the best squad I've ever worked with here at Buckie."
