BUCKIE Thistle are set to give back to their fans and thank them for their support against Celtic by offering free entry to this weekend's clash with Banks O' Dee.

The Jags are set to make upwards of £200,000 from their Scottish Cup fourth round clash with the Hoops at Celtic Park, and are instantly set to reward their loyal supporters.

A total of 2400 Jags travelled to Glasgow – in poor weather conditions – for Sunday's match. Now all fans, whether they travelled to Glasgow or not, will be offered free entry to Saturday's match at Victoria Park as a thank-you.

A Buckie Thistle statement said: "As a show of our appreciation for the truly immense support that the fans, businesses and people of Buckie have shown the club over the last few weeks, we are proud to announce that Saturday’s SHFL match against Banks o’ Dee FC will be free entry.

"We would encourage you to come along to Victoria Park and show your support for the team as they continue in their quest for the league title."

Jags supporters, and some fans of other clubs, lauded the move on social media.

Ryan Ogilvie said: "I hope that the support Buckie have had over last while in the lead up to the game will encourage more people to give Buckie and the Highland league a chance.

"I've never felt more welcome at a football game and just want more people to enjoy Buckie and all the teams in the league."

Kevin Bruce said: "It’s amazing gestures like this that build a very tight community spirit! It’s been a great few weeks with the build up to the game and with the game itself!"

Paul McLure added: "Excellent from the club in response to the excellent community support. Hopefully a great turn out on Saturday for getting back to business in the league."

Buckie Thistle manager Graeme Stewart said after Sunday's match that he hoped a few folk that had been in attendance would become regular followers of his side.

“The fans were amazing and I hope they keep coming back to home games to boost that and help the club grow," he said.

The match against Banks O' Dee on Saturday, January 27, will kick-off at 2pm. Buckie haven't played a home match in the league since November 18th's 5-2 victory over Wick Academy.

The Jags have 20 matches to play between now and the start of May as they set to win their first Highland League crown since 2016-17.
