CALEY Thistle loan kid Chris Blackett could be a real find for Forres Mechanics, reckons manager Charlie Rowley.
The Inverness teenager celebrated his first start for the Cans with a goal in Wednesday’s 3-0 home league win against Clach, and did much to impress his boss.
Rowley rested top scorer Liam Baxter to give Blackett a full run-out and the youngster’s display could give the boss some food for thought when he picks his team for Saturday’s home clash with Formartine United.
“Chris has had limited opportunities since he came in on loan because of the way Liam (Baxter) and Lee (Fraser) have been playing together,” Charlie said.
“But I gave him a start against Clach and I thought he was probably our man of the match. He had a really good game and everything positive we did seemed to go through him.
“I picked my team with one eye on the Formartine game by trying to utilise the whole squad. I would say the team’s performance has put the cat amongst the pigeons.
“I had a team half pencilled in for Saturday but now I might have to rethink things.”
Blackett’s second half strike rounded off a good night for Mechanics, adding to first half goals by Lee Fraser and Craig McGovern.
Perhaps the biggest boost the Forres squad could have hoped for was the return to the dugout of coach Charlie Brown, little over a week after he was seriously ill in hospital.
