VICTORY at table-topping Annan Athletic on Saturday is the target as Elgin City aim to complete the first quarter of the season in style.
Confidence is high in the City camp following their five goal demolition of fellow promotion contenders Alloa Athletic two weeks ago.
However, boss Ross Jack knows leaders Annan will be a tough proposition with seven wins and just one defeat so far this season.
"It has been an incredible start to the season for Annan. It is a formidable ask to go there and win as they are tough opposition on their own soil.
"They have some dangerous players and particularly from free-kicks and corners. They try to get the ball into the big lad Sean O’Connor as much as possible.
"It is a massive game for us, as nine points ahead after the first round of games is not the kind of lead we want Annan to develop over us."
With 15 points from their first eight games, Elgin are not far off the target Ross Jack and Barry Wilson had set for the team when they looked at the opening fixtures.
City still need to find more consistency if they are to remain serious promotion contenders, let alone challenge for the league.
However, Jack was delighted with the response the players showed to back-to-back defeats when they dumped Paul Hartley’s Alloa 5-0 at Borough Briggs two weeks ago.
