ELGIN City will be going for Ramsdens’ gold as they bid to get their season off to a flyer.

The Black and Whites aim to dump second division Arbroath out of the Ramsdens Cup at Borough Briggs on Saturday.

Manager Ross Jack (pictured) will remind his players of 12 months ago when they stunned first division Ross County, who went on to win their league, in the same competition at Dingwall.

This time they have home advantage and hope a bumper Borough Briggs crowd will come out to roar them on.

"It is a big game to start with again as Arbroath missed out in their play-offs last season having enjoyed a good season in the league," said Jack.

"It was great to beat Ross County last season and a performance of the same magnitude will be needed again."

City have some player problems before a ball is kicked in anger, however, Jack believes he can put a team on the park capable of springing a cup shock.

Jack urged the fans to rally behind the team on Saturday and re-create the special atmosphere that propelled the team into the play-offs last season.
