DETERMINED Elgin City are looking to bounce back at Stranraer on Saturday.

City slipped from first to fourth following last weekend's 3-0 home defeat to Clyde.

And they face a Stranraer side just above them on goal differerence and high on confidence.

However, City boss Ross Jack told 'The Scot': "We have to react positively to the setback. Stranraer are on a decent run of four straight victories and will be a tough proposition on home soil.

"We got a very good reaction when we lot 3-0 to Montrose and went on a run of three consecutive wins, so something similar would be ideal.

"The players know they let themselves and the fans down last Saturday."

Jack denied the pressure of being top had contributed to the poor showing against Clyde.

"The players enjoyed being top of the league and it is a feeling they want to get back again soon.

"We want to be up there challenging and don't want to get detached from the top two, so a win at Stranraer would ensure Alloa and Annan don't get away."

However, Jack admitted a point at Stair Park would be acceptable.

City have some injury concerns ahead of the marathon 500-mile round trip.

Top scorer Craig Gunn's ankle problem has flared up and he is a major doubt, while skipper Paul Kaczan is struggling with a hamstring strain.

Family commitments rule out Steven Edwards, while police officer Blair Lawrie will be on the beat.

On the plus side, winger Daniel Moore returns from suspension and Ross O'Donoghue, who came off the bench against Clyde, is fully fit again.

City set off at 7am for the long haul to Stranraer.
