Clachnacuddin 1 Forres Mechanics 4: Can-Cans pick up first win of 2024 in Inverness

FORRES Mechanics picked up their first win of the year with a 4-1 success against Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park.

Forres went into the game having won just one in 15 attempts in the Highland League – against Strathspey Thistle – but ended that run in impressive fashion in Inverness.

Sam Nixon grabbed his first goal in chocolate and gold to open the scoring before half-time as the visitors went in 1-0 ahead.

Clach equalised within seconds of the restart through Connor Bunce's free-kick from 20 yards, but Forres went on to win in convincing fashion late on.

Calum Frame put Forres back ahead on 78 minutes when he drove towards the edge of the box and hammered in from just outside the area.

And a late Lee Fraser double – his 151st and 152nd goals in Forres colours – put the seal on victory.

Steven MacDonald's side are back at home on Saturday to welcome Wick Academy to Mosset Park.

The Can-Cans are searching for their first home win since August against an Academy side that have picked up just a solitary away point in the Highland League this season.
