Jags netted twice in the final 18 minutes to beat hosts Edinburgh City 2-1 at the Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday.

It was looking bleak for Graeme Stewart’s side at the break when they trailed to a Chris McKee goal on 36 minutes and had Jay Cheyne sent off.

However, stopper Iain Macrae levelled on 72 minutes and Chris Angus struck a priceless winner nine minutes from time to the delight of the travelling Jags support.

Forres Mechanics must play again for their chance to join Jags in the next round.

They also had to travel to face Lowland League opposition in the shape of East Kilbride, and a 1-1 draw means the teams will have to do it again in Forres next weekend.

After a goal-less first half Dachi Khutsishvili opened the scoring for the Cans just after the break.

But their lead lasted just three minutes with former Stranraer midfielder Sean Winter firing East Kilbride level.

Formartine United and Huntly joined Buckie as Highland League representatives in the next round.

Huntly pulled off a superb 2-1 win at home to East Stirling while Formartine edged out another League 2 side, Clyde, 2-0.

Nairn and Wick will replay after a 2-2- draw, Brora lost 2-1 to Arbroath and Clach were defeated 3-1 by Linlithgow Rose.

The all Highland League ties between Turriff United and Fraserburgh, and Fort William v Cove Rangers were postponed due to waterlogged pitches, and they will try again next Saturday.

That means Rothes’ new manager Fraser Bremner must wait for his first game in charge, as their away game against Cove is now put on the back burner.

Rothes put up a good fight in their latest league game under caretaker managers Derek Thomson and Davie Simpson, but lost 3-1 at Lossiemouth.

Former Rothes man Joao Rodrigues gave Lossie the lead only for Jack Lingard to net the Speysiders’ first goal in six games to level within four minutes.

It stayed 1-1 until the final half hour when Ross Archibald struck twice to give the Coasters victory.
