A sloppy first 20 minutes cost Forres Mechanics their place in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Lowland League East Kilbride won 3-2 at Mosset Park in a second round replay and will now travel to Stenhousemuir in round 3 (see William Hill YouTube video below).

Some poor Forres defending was punished twice by Craig Hastings goals, a header from a corner and an individual effort inside 16 minutes.

Craig McGovern headed Forres back into the game and with Forres chasing an equaliser they were hit on the break by a third East Kilbride goal by sub Frazer Johnstone right at the end.

Dachi Khutsishvili pulled one back deep into stoppage time but it came too late for the Cans to stage a comeback.

Forres will aim to bounce back from their cup disappointment when they host Fraserburgh in a league match on Wednesday night.

Mechanics then have a league derby away to Nairn County on Saturday.
