Queen's Park in Inverness played host to the Scottish Athletics North District Championships, an event usually dominated by the home club, Inverness Harriers.

But this year there was a new name at the top of the medals' table.

Elgin AAC sent 23 athletes to the championships, competing in 63 events and producing a series of results to be proud of.

The club came home with 21 gold medals, 12 silver and seven bronze, broke four championship records and three club records as well as collecting numerous personal best performances.

Club coach and chairman, Scott Hamilton said: "This is the first time we have beaten Inverness Harriers AAC on the medals table and it is a testament to the commitment and dedication our brilliant young people put into their hobby."

In the under-13 girls, Rowan Bain achieved three PBs in the discus (gold medal), shot putt (silver) and 70 metres hurdles.

Jenna Gage was a double gold winner, breaking the championship best in the 70m hurdles with a PB of 12.24 seconds, and winning the shot putt with a PB as well as landing silver in the long jump.
