Elgin City Badminton Club played host to a coaching session held by Dan Travers, who won three Commonwealth medals including gold in Edinburgh in 1986.

Club founder Lloyd Griffiths said a total of 30 children and 15 adults attended the event, coming from across the Highlands with one player travelling from Skye.

"It was great to host an internationally renowned coach like Dan," he said.

"Everyone who attended had a great session with him and there were more than a few tired bodies by the end of the afternoon.

"We are hoping to make it a fairly regular thing with Dan coming up every few months to put local players through their paces."

Griffiths formed the club two years ago with sessions originally held at Moray College.

Now the club has relocated to Elgin High School and training stints resume on Monday, September 6 for juniors and the following day for adults.

We're always happy to have new players at the club and if you're a rusty player wanting to get back into the sport feel free to get in touch," Griffiths added.
