ELGIN City bounced back in style with a solid 2-0 win over Queens Park which puts them third in the division three table.

After last Saturday's disappointing 3-0 defeat at Montrose, boss Ross Jack demanded a performance and he got it.

First half goals from Graeme Beveridge (7) and Craig Gunn (29) capped a fine first half performance.

And a resolute City defence never looked like letting their Glasgow visitors back into the match.

Jack told 'The Scot: "I am absolutely delighted. It was a very professional performance and we played some high tempo football in the first half.

"It was an oustanding defensive display in the second half and we didn't allow them back into the game. I don't think they had a shot on target.

"We had to bounce back after last Saturday as the players realised they let themselves down.

"Right from the word go we were in Queens Park's faces and didn't allow them to settle. We played some outstanding stuff in the first half."

Jack was particularly pleased with the clean sheet at home, in front of another healthy crowd of almost 600.

"There is a long way to go but it is important that we have a strong home form. Hopefully that will encourage the fans to turn out again next weekend."

City are at home next Saturday to East Stirling, who sit bottom of the league at this early stage on goal difference following Saturday's results.
