Andrew Smart's latest professional boxing fight in Inverness on Saturday has been called off.
The Elgin fighter said he has withdrawn from his planned bout due to "unforeseen circumstances".
Smart (28) won his first five fights since turning pro in 2018 and was aiming to add a sixth victory this weekend at the Highland Skirmish event at Inverness Leisure Centre.
But yesterday the Northern Sporting Club fighter announced: "Unfortunately I’ve had to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control.
"I’ve been training hard for ten weeks so far, so it’s sickening."
A product of Elgin Amateur Boxing Club, Smart still trains with the club under the guidance of head coach Paul Gordon.
He won his debut pro fight against Simas Volosinas in Aberdeen in November, 2018 and followed it up with another success over Gary McGuire in the Granite City six months later.
Smart achieved his dream of headlining a professional fight night in his home town when he won the main event at Elgin Town Hall in September, 2019 over six rounds against Dean Jones.
After a two-year break due to the pandemic, Smart was back in the ring late last year with two more victories.
He defeated Jamie Quinn over four rounds in Turnberry and five weeks later beat Jake Osgood at Inverness Leisure Centre - his last bout in December.
Saturday's Highland Skirmish will continue without Smart but with another Moray boxer on the bill, fellow pro Fraser Wilkinson who is looking to add to his perfect record of three wins so far.
