The Black and Whites are now seven points above their opponents thanks to goals by Russell Dingwall and a first for the club for Dayshonne Golding.

City manager Allan Hale made two changes to the team that lost 1-0 against Dumbarton on Saturday.

Brian Cameron returned from suspension and Mitch Taylor was recalled on the left side of attack with Connall Ewan and Michael Dangana dropping to the bench.

The three points were crucial to both sides occupying the bottom two places in League 2.

Clyde got the start they wanted with a seventh minute opener, Liam Scullion looping Tom McHale’s punch back over him into the net from a corner.

Within two minutes Elgin were level as Russell Dingwall got on the end of Ross Draper’s chip across the box and curled a perfect effort over keeper Jack Leighfield.

Taylor wasn’t far away with an angled volley and the City wide man then tested Leighfield from outside the area as the home side grew in confidence.

City had a huge escape on 34 minutes as offside appeals were waved away and Jordan Allan broke clean through and lobbed McHale but the ball bounced off the hard pitch and inches over the bar.

Clyde made two changes at the break and one of their subs, Jaze Kabia had a great chance on the edge of the six yard box within five minutes of coming on, but his effort was deflected over.

Dingwall lined up another swerver on the Clyde goal, this time on his left foot but he was a foot the wrong side of the target.

Then a Dingwall cross picked out Draper at the back post but his header slipped past.

City had loud appeals for a penalty on 73 minutes when Jake Dolzanski’s header was stopped on the line by Clyde captain Craig Howie, the home side claiming he used his arm.

However five minutes later Elgin did take the lead from a Dingwall corner on the right which Dolzanski again headed goalwards, and Golding was on hand in the six yard box to scramble it home.

It was no more than they deserved, and the home team held out comfortably for their victory in the end.
