Elgin City are hoping history will repeat itself when they travel to the capital to take on Hibernian Colts.

The Black and Whites reached the quarter-finals of the competition when it was last contested two years ago, and beat the Hibees youngsters on the way.

A dramatic 4-3 win at Easter Road, with Matthew Cooper grabbing a late winner, was part of a run that also saw Elgin see off Brechin City, Dundee and Airdrie on the road before losing 3-2 at Raith Rovers in the last eight.

Tonight's tie takes place at Christie Gillies Park, home of current Lowland League leaders Civil Service Strollers (7.45pm kick-off).

The winners host Dunfermline Athletic in the second round on Saturday, September 4.

Fraserburgh and Brora Rangers are on home soil, flying the flag for the Highland League.

League 2 Cowdenbeath, who beat Elgin 3-1 on Saturday, make the trip north to Buchan to take on Fraserburgh (7.30pm kick off).

A home tie against Alloa Athletic awaits the winners.

The Broch have make a strong start to the season and thumped league champions Brora at their Bellslea Park ground on Saturday.

The Cattachs, who parted company with manager Steven MacKay at the weekend, will be looking to bounce back from that result when they host Aberdeen Colts at Dudgeon Park (7.45pm).

Should they see off the young Dons, Brora are at home to Arbroath in round two.

Brora Rangers v Aberdeen B 7.45
