Elgin City remain bottom of League 2 following a 3-1 defeat at Stranraer.

A first City goal for new striker Robert Jones was the Black and Whites' consolation at Stair Park.

Aiming to bounce back from their horror 6-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Jeanfield Swifts, City got off to a bad start.

Keeper Tom McHale was named in their starting line-up but was replaced shortly before kick off by recent signing Kyle King, making his team debut.

King was then beaten after just four minutes as City conceded a penalty and Dylan Forres scored.

Matty Grant added a second midway through the first half and when James Dolan made it 3-0 a minute after the break, it was effectively game over.

Jones came off the bench right after the goal, and netted on 76 minutes to give the visitors a crumb of comfort.
