The 20-year-old made 10 sub appearances for City last season, but has started both of the club’s pre-season friendlies so far, impressing Price in the process.

“I have to say I thought Aiden was excellent,” he said. “He’s always had potential to do well and he’s certainly got something different to offer us.

“Hopefully, the penny is dropping with him and we can get him involved more this year. He’s doing himself no harm at all now.

“I was really pleased with him on Saturday playing a more central role and I thought we would look at him on the left (against Forres) because we need options in wide areas.

“He’s worked hard during the close season and hopefully he will get his reward.”

City beat Lossiemouth 9-1 on Saturday, and fielded a locally-based starting line-up on Tuesday night against Forres to pick up a 4-1 victory.

Sopel laid claim to the final goal with his shot being deflected in off a Forres defender.

Price brought on Fin Allen (16) and Matt Jamieson (17), both products of the club’s football academy, for first team debuts.

Today the Black and Whites play their third friendly match, with Highland League champions Brora Rangers paying a visit to Borough Briggs.
