THE first of four Elgin City matches in a week proved to be an encouraging one for boss Gavin Price.

However, the dazzling 4-1 success away to play-off rivals Stranraer is no reason to get carried away, Price warned.

The Black and Whites have little time to rest up from their exertions at Stair Park as they go again at home to Stirling Albion tomorrow.

Their manager hopes that a change in shape and tactical approach has helped his team come through a sticky patch they encountered earlier this month.

But he says City will only feel the benefit of Tuesday's victory if they follow it up with another successful result 48 hours later.

"Last night’s result becomes a great result if we capitalise on it tomorrow night," he said.

"I’m not saying it’s a great result just now but it becomes that if we do the business tomorrow."

Price praised his team for their performance at Stranraer, which saw Elgin score four goals in the opening 19 minutes to wrap things up quickly.

"We certainly had a game plan that was different to what we have been doing in the past," he said. "I think it worked for us in terms of how we attacked and we were really sharp in front of goal.

"We had to play similar to how we played against Queen’s Park but we asked them to be a bit more positive going forward when we get the opportunities.

"I can’t argue with what they did, they carried it out to the letter."

Elgin will have Stephen Bronsky available to play against Stirling, as the centre back was working and missed the Stranraer win.

Archie Macphee managed only light training at the weekend so wasn't risked on Tuesday, but could be fit enough to return to the squad on Thursday.

Price will take his squad through an online yoga session tonight to ease aching muscles, and assess any knocks before deciding on his starting line-up for the all-important match the following day.
