Elgin City manager Allan Hale praised his team’s efforts to keep the club safe from relegation - but said it wasn’t a reason to celebrate.

Hale said in his post-match video interview below that Elgin needs to “push the boundaries” and with their ability to draw the league’s biggest crowd they should fulfil their potential as a club.

He said: “The fact that we are safe is a brilliant achievement because I thought earlier in my tenure here that it was going to be an extremely difficult task.

“Many people put us favourites to go down.

“I don’t really want to celebrate the fact that we’ve stayed up too much. I don’t think this club should be celebrating being safe.

“I think this club needs to push the boundaries to really go and recognise it’s potential.

“You see another great crowd here today. We are averaging about 800-900 fans at home games and that’s with being in ninth place in the last three seasons.

“For us the potential is, if we can grow a team that can really sustain a challenge for the play-offs, that you are going to get over a thousand through the gate.

“That tells me the potential of this club is huge.”
