A THIRD division championship charge is now the focus of Elgin City.

Out of the cup, City are set to channel all their energies on mounting a sustained third division title challenge.

Ross Jack (pictured) and Barry Wilson have urged their players to go on an unbeaten run which could set them up for a title tilt in the new year.

With last weekend’s 3-1 Scottish Cup replay defeat at Hampden behind them, the City camp have been plotting victory in Saturday’s key promotion clash with Stranraer at Borough Briggs.

"We are up there fighting for the title and everything will now be focussed on that," said Jack.

City hope to redress the result from the last meeting between the sides when they were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline at Stair Park on September 24, despite dominating the game.

"If we keep playing the football I know we are capable of and with some grit and determination, we could be up there challenging," added Jack.

City face a key four-day period with Peterhead visiting Borough Briggs on Tuesday night for a game rearranged from last Saturday.

"Six points from these two games would be a fantastic boost and there would be no better way to get rid of the disappointment of the Queens Park game," said Jack.
