Elgin close in on play-offs

ELGIN City have strengthened their grip on a third division play-off place with victory at Clyde.

Ross Jack's depleted side secured a fantastic three points at Cumbernauld to go nine points clear in fourth place with just six games remaining.

After a goalless first half, Jason Crooks fired City ahead on 56 minutes.

Brian Cameron added a second 12 minutes from the end to secure the points.

Annan Athletic's defeat at home to Montrose means City are withing touching distance of making the play-offs for the first time in their 12 years in the Scottish Football League.

Ross Jack was forced to shuffle his pack with central defenders David Niven, Mark Durnan and Jamie Duff all suspended.

The experienced Barry Wilson came into the side, along with Paul McMullan and Brian Cameron.

Jack filled the bench with a clutch of promising youth team players.
