GREGOR Ewan and ParalympicsGB have been eliminated from the wheelchair curling in Beijing.
The Elgin local and his team looked on course for the semi finals on Wednesday after beating Estonia 10-5 in the morning session.
That pushed Great Britain into fourth position in the table with a record of three wins and two losses at the halfway point of the round-robin stage.
However, subsequent losses to Sweden, Canada, Republic of Korea and tournament favourites China ended the team’s chances of landing a medal.
The team ensured they left Beijing on a high though after comfortably beating Latvia 8-4 in their final match.
That left Great Britain with a record of four wins and six losses and a final position of 8th.
Ewan and co may be left with a feeling of what could have been with David Melrose being ruled out of the games through injury after he fell out of his wheelchair against Sweden.
The team recorded just one win after the incident and were ultimately eliminated.
However, it has still been a memorable games for former bronze medallist Ewan who was chosen as ParalympicsGB’s flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony last week.
Ewan, speaking before the ceremony, said: “This is my third Paralympics and because I’m usually playing the next morning, I’ve not yet been to an Opening Ceremony. So, to be able to go to my first Opening Ceremony, and then to find out I’ll be carrying the flag – I’m absolutely buzzing.”
