Elgin Cycling Club up for three awards at Scottish Cycling Conference and Awards night at Crieff Hydro
Elgin Cycling Club members will be swapping their lycra outfits for posh dresses and kilts at this month's Scottish Cycling Conference and Awards night.
For the club has been nominated for awards in three categories.
The event takes place at Crieff Hydro on November 25 and a total of 25 Elgin CC stalwarts will make the trip to Perthshire to represent their club.
For the second year running. Elgin have been nominated as a finalist in the Club of the Year accolade.
The award recognises the vibrancy of the club membership, diversity and inclusivity of events and for a week-long series of events to celebrate and lead up to the UCI worlds events held all over Scotland in August.
Two other nominations are a feather in the cap of the Elgin Breezers group, a vital part of Elgin Cycling Club.
The group was formed at a time when trained cycle champions recruited women who were new to cycling or returning to the sport, and took them on guided rides as part of the British Cycling Breeze Initiative to get more women onto bikes.
A spokesperson for the club said: "The group is growing, and Elgin boasts the most Breeze Champions of any area in Scotland, putting on rides for new and improving female cyclists most weeks."
In honour of their leadership in this category, Elgin Breezers are one of the finalists in the Recreational Cycling Award.
In addition, Diane Maciver, both a committee member of Elgin Cycling Club, and a Breeze Champion, has been nominated for the Volunteer of the Year prize in recognition of her initiatives and work for cycling both locally and at a national level.
Diane and another club member and Breeze Champion, Sheila Scott are also talking at the Scottish Cycling Conference earlier in the day.
