Elgin Five Day Open tees off

THE Elgin Five Day Open is underway at Hardhillock.

A field of 130 golfers teed it up in the club's biggest event of the year.

They include Mexican player Fernando Asbun, who plays off plus two, and is a friend of Elgin member Michael Watson, who is studying in America.

The strokeplay qualifying rounds take place on Monday and Tuesday, followed by the knockout matchplay on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

For results from the event and action from the early rounds, get 'The Northern Scot' on Friday.
