JORDAN Allan’s last minute header rescued a point for Elgin City and he celebrated by signing a contract extension until the end of the season.
Allan, whose switch from striker to left back has been a big success for Elgin, came forward for a late corner to earn his team a 1-1 draw at home to Edinburgh City on Saturday.
He rose to head home Thomas Reilly’s kick from the left and give Elgin something to show for their efforts.
Manager Gavin Price said: “Jordan had signed an extension and I’m delighted with that.
“I like Jordan. He’s a difficult boy at times when he was not playing but I think we’ve found a position for him.”
With Morton loan teenager Lewis Strapp confirmed to be returning to the Cappielow club at the end of December, Allan will cement the defensive position he has held for the past four games.
Another loan player, Ross County midfielder Tony Dingwall returns to the Premiership club without kicking a ball on Saturday.
He was picked in the starting line-up to face Edinburgh but pulled up with an injury in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Chris Dodd before kick off.
Elgin did struggle to break down a stubborn Edinburgh City side who belied their lowly position by nearly pulling off a surprise win.
Former Falkirk, Hibs and Dunfermline striker Farid El Alagui gave the capital side the lead with a stunning chest and volley strike six minutes after the break.
Elgin chances were limited after that, though Aberdeen loan youngster Bruce Anderson saw a seemingly netbound close range effort scraped off the line by ex-Hearts man Craig Thomson midway through the half.
With defeat on the cards, the home side had one last throw of the dice from Reilly’s flag kick and Allan powered the ball home via the underside of the bar.
The Moray men remain fourth in League 2 but their next four matches are against the other clubs currently in the top five – three of the fixtures being away from home.
“We will try and pick off these next few games and give it everything before the end of the year and see where it takes us,” said Price.
