Elgin Golf Club is helping members hone their green skills on a brand new indoor putting facility.
Head professional Ross McConnachie designed and built a putting studio at the Hardhillock course, which he claims is the first of its kind in the north of Scotland.
The studio has a flat area for assessing golfers' technique and for practice, as well as a sloped section to work on breaking putts.
McConnachie explained how he came up with a plan to add to the club's facilities.
"Putting has always been a huge interest of mine," he said. "I first started to focus on putting teaching and fitting in 2017 when I purchased a SAM Putt lab (a unique high-tech system that measures and analyses all movement details of putting and chipping).
"It is top-of-the-range technology which gives me the feedback required to help golfers improve their putting.
"I’ve been working with it now for six years and I’ve learnt a huge amount along the way. "
So the plan was put in place to install an indoor studio at Elgin.
"I have always worked on a very basic, small putting surface but the club at Elgin have been very good and given me the use of this room, so I decided to bring the putting lab to the next level," Ross added.
"The studio will predominantly be used for teaching and for custom-fitting golfers for new putters. But it will also be a great facility for golfers of all abilities to practice.
"The putting lab is a unique facility and it will provide golfers in the north of Scotland with the opportunity to improve their putting or be fitted for a new putter with the best technology on the market."
