Elgin keeper welcomes competition for place

THE competition has hotted up for possession of Elgin City's goalkeeper jersey, and Marc Waters is welcoming it.
The Glaswegian has held the number one position in City's team all season, until the arrival of former Lochee United keeper Iain Ross in the new year saw him lose his place.
However Ross picked up a groin injury on his debut, the 7-0 defeat at Peterhead when he limped off with the score at 2-0.
Waters came on in his place for that match and stayed in the team for last Saturday's 2-1 win against his former club Clyde.
He is keen to stay in the side but feels having a strong rival for the piosition will be good both for him and the club.
"It's great, competition breeds a situation where somebody must have a good game or else they are not going to play the next week," he said.
"It's down to me to have a bit of form and keep Iain out of the team so that's all I can do, and I will do that hopefully."
Ross may not be fit until later in the month, so Waters is set to keep his place for Saturday's home match against Cowdenbeath.
He was pleased to be part of an important win against Clyde to bounce back from the pain of a heavy loss at Peterhead.
"This was a big game for us and a good reaction to Tuesday's defeat. We got that out of our system and thankfully we got the win.
"Confidence had been low and last Tuesday (at Peterhead) kind of summed that up. We were a bit down in the dumps as soon as we lost a goal.
"I had come on after 60 minutes and I've been getting pelters all week for the five in half an hour. So to come back and get a win and put that back in their faces was great.
"Luckily the next game was only four days away. We've gone back out there and we've done the business, it's three points and that game, just like the Peterhead game has been put to bed.
"So we go again on Saturday and that's massive as well. We've got Cowdenbeath back here at home where our form has been good so we just need to keep that going."
