ELGIN City are on the brink of making their first two new signings of the summer.
Manager Jim Weir has agreed a deal with veteran ex-Celtic midfielder Jon-Paul McGovern.
And the Black and Whites are expected to clinch the signing of former Canadian youth international striker Calum Ferguson.
Weir told the Northern Scot that both players have agreed to put their name on the dotted line on an Elgin contract this weekend.
McGovern started his career at Celtic Park as a teenager, won a League Cup winners medal with Livingston and helped Sheffield Wednesday to promotion after scoring the play-offs final in 2005.
He established himself in English football during spells with MK Dons, Swindon and Carlisle, while on returning to Scotland he played for Ayr, Stirling and Clyde in recent seasons.
"I felt we’ve been a fairly young side over the past few years and Jon can give us a bit more presence in terms of maturity in the team," said Weir.
Attacker Ferguson (22) came throigh the youth ranks at Caley Thistle and made two first team appearances before being released last year, and joining League 1 Albion Rovers.
Weir said the player’s appearances at Cliftonhill were restricted due to illness, and he has agreed to a switch to Elgin.
