OUT OF the frying pan and into the fire could be a fair way to describe the challenge facing Elgin City as they bid to recover from a 12-goal shocker.

City face a tough task to shoot down First Division Falkirk on the road this weekend in the Scottish Communities League Cup.

Coming on the back of last Saturday’s bizarre 7-5 Ramsdens Cup defeat to Arbroath, a trip to the Falkirk Stadium would not be most fans’ ideal pick-me-up.

However, manager Ross Jack says the playing surface will suit the slick passing game that his side likes to play and the surroundings can only inspire them.

“It is a great opportunity to play at a stadium like that, to play against good players. Falkirk have a good blend of experience and a lot of youth,” he said.

“We have had them watched and know what they are about. They are an attacking-minded side who like to play flowing football.”

Under Steven Pressley, Falkirk have developed a reputation as a footballing side, with the emphasis firmly on youth.
