ELGIN City have signed young defender Evan Towler on loan from Aberdeen until the end of the campaign.

The 18-year-old left-back joins the Black and Whites after the departure of on-loan left backs Lewis Nicolson and Greig Young.

Nicolson and Young returned to Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Raith Rovers respectively due to injury issues at both clubs.

Towler had a successful loan spell at Borough Briggs in the 2021-22 campaign, playing in 17 League Two matches.

He has spent this season on loan with Championship side Cove Rangers.

After playing 90 minutes in all four League Cup group stage matches, Towler went on to feature prominently in the league at the season's start.

However, he hasn't played a league minute for Cove since October 22.

Elgin manager Gavin Price previously promised a left-back when he said last week that he hoped to add two players to City's squad.
