BUCKIE Thistle face a “massive month” which will shape their quest for honours this season, says boss Graeme Stewart.

After seeing his side’s crunch title clash with Brora postponed last week due to high winds. Stewart is getting his team ready for a tricky trip to Nairn County tomorrow.

He says victory is essential to kick off a run of difficult matches which can make or break their campaign.

Perhaps the biggest of them all is Wednesday’s trip to take on a Fraserburgh side who lead Jags by six points at the top of the table.

“It’s a massive game at Nairn,” Stewart said. “We know they have improved and brought in some good players so we can’t get ahead of ourselves and look further forward than that game.

“When Fraserburgh comes along, we need to try and get at least a result and preferably a win. If we get a win we are 100 per cent back in it, if we don’t get a win then it looks very difficult for us.

“We have to take care of Nairn first. If we get beat or draw that one then I think we are out of it.

“Let’s give them all the respect first and if we get a result then we move on to preparing for Fraserburgh.

“We’ve got to win just about every game between now and the end of the season to have a chance of winning the league so it’s going to be very difficult.”

Buckie also host Brechin City and take on Inverurie Locos in consecutive matches in the League Cup quarter-finals and the league.

“It’s a massive month. I said we would see where we are at the end of January, now it’s definitely the end of February to see where we are.

“We’ve been on a good run, the beginning of the season wasn’t great, we looked almost out of it when we were 10, 12 points behind. Now we are six behind if all the games are equal and we are probably still in it.

“You want to be challenging after Christmas, you don’t want our season to be over and our’s definitely isn’t. We have the league and a cup to play for so we need to try and finish it off.”
