FIFTY players have pulled on a Rothes shirt this season – and manager Fraser Bremner wants to add a few more.

The Mackessack Park boss has added a number of fresh faces to his squad since taking on the job at the end of October.

Blair McDonald and Lee Wilson are Rothes’ two latest signings, with Bremner monitoring two more trialists as well as weighing up moves for other players.

The Speysiders included Lossiemouth United midfielder Ryan Stuart and former Deveronside player Scott Davidson on trial during Wednesday night’s 7-0 defeat at Fraserburgh.

Recent trialist striker David Lawrence could pen a deal with the Speysiders this weekend, while Bremner and assistant boss Nathan Sharp have been watching other transfer targets in action across Moray.

The manager has already taken in midfielders Dan Smith, Elliot Mitchell, Jamie Bagley and centre back Sean Mackay in recent weeks, though injuries have bitten hard since.

Smith won’t play before Christmas due to injury while Mackay, Macmillan and Callum McIntosh are set for a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

“We are definitely still looking to get players in, especially with the injuries we’ve picked up,” Bremner said.

He was impressed with Stuart’s debut on trial against Fraserburgh and is set to play him once more against Clach on Saturday, with a view to a possible loan deal with Lossie United until the end of the season.

“I was very pleased with Ryan’s performance. He was good on the ball and kept looking to get on the ball even when things weren’t going our way.”

Fellow trial player Davidson is a free agent, most recently playing in the juniors with Deveronside.

He too is set to play against Clach.

With both making their Rothes debuts in midweek, that brought the tally of players listed in Speysiders’ squads this season to 50, with only half of the season completed.

Orkney lad Wilson, who is based in Inverness with his work, penned a deal until the end of the season after impressing in his three trial games.

McDonald was recently signed from Islavale on a two-and-a-half year deal, having previously worked with Bremner at Dufftown and assistant boss Sharp at ’Vale.

He missed the Fraserburgh game but should be back to feature against Clach.

Front man Lawrence, who netted on his debut against Keith, can still play another trial game but Rothes are keen to tie him up on a deal soon. He is based in the Glasgow area but his girlfriend and family are based in Moray so he travels up every weekend.

On the way out at Mackessack Park, Robert Wachulak has moved to Grantown juniors while fellow Pole Matty Bobrowski is interesting two clubs, but neither have come close to matching Rothes’ valuation of the transfer-listed striker.

Mateusz Bobrowskihas been placed on the transfer list interested parties should email the club rothesfc@highlandleague.com

Bremner wants his team to push hard for their first league win of the season when Clach pay a visit on Saturday.

The last time the teams met in August it was a nightmare for Rothes as they were crushed 12-2 in Inverness.

The Tangerines have just one point to show for their efforts in 20 league games, and have been embarrassed by a tally of 109 goals conceded in that time.

Home advantage should ensure that Rothes make things tougher for Clach this week.

Bremner said: “One of the first things I said when I came into the job was I wanted to make Mackessack Park a difficult place for teams to come to, so we are looking to do that.”
