LETTERS and parcels delivered in the morning, Highland League title bagged by 4.45pm - Simon Allan had the perfect day.
The Forres postman was ready for a celebration after helping the Mechanics clinch the championship.
"Absolutely superb," was his reaction to the scenes moments after the final whistle when fans invaded the pitch and the champagne flowed.
"What makes it more special is that we have hardly spent any money on this team.
"We have a lot of local boys in this team and boys who have been with this club for a long time.
"All credit to Cove for pushing us so hard and they are a strong team, but I never doubted we would do it.|
Kyle Scott was almost lost for words at the end.
"I have never felt anything like this in my life. I can't believe that we have got there. After 35 games we are top of the league and you don't do that by luck," he said.
"It is down to team spirit, you saw it out there today. We put the bodies on the line for each other."
Veteran midfielder Neil Whyte, who came out of retirement earlier in the season, said: "When I came back I couldn't foresee this happening. The team spirit is the best I have ever seen.
"Everybody outwith the club expected our bubble to burst and I don't think we have been given the credit we deserve."
First team coach Charlie Brown added: "The boys have responded tremendously to everything that Charle (Rowley) and the coaching staff have done.
"The dressing room spirit is incredible. The boys have their place in history."
And chairman Dr James Anderson, said: "Over the season it has been down to team play and team spirit. They are a genuine good bunch of guys and they all like playing together."
